Sunshine House
Also in East Yorkshire providing invaluable support and clinical care to children 0-18, is Sunshine House who desperately need your help in spreading the word for this essential facility offering palliative and terminal care and support to families in the community.
Whilst their services are managed by Hull and East Yorkshire NHS Trust, and they provide the unit with everything the children and staff need from a medical perspective, every parent knows what a child ‘needs’ and what a child ‘wants’ are two entirely different things.
Charitable donations raised by staff and friends of Sunshine House are used to refurbish the sensory equipment, and to ensure children have a happy, positive and stimulating short break.
It will also fund a variety of other much needed projects like helping to refurbish their “Forget me not” hospice care room, the Cinema Room, tidy up the garden and other the niceties that NHS can’t provide for. To quote one of their patients, “It’s the most wonderful place on earth”, and this is echoed by the staff in their belief, “there are no tragedies at sunshine house, only stories waiting to be written”.
