Hornsea Inshore Rescue
Founded in 1994 Hornsea Inshore Rescue is a vital rescue service manned entirely by volunteers, and funded by the generosity of the general public and local businesses in the area. Whilst they work closely with the RNLI they are totally independent, and have to raise all their own funds.
They have recently also joined forces with the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and are now part of the community 1st Responder network so that they can respond to medical emergencies on land in and around Hornsea.
This essential rescue service has helped save many lives since it started, and was housed in a barn on a Caravan Park. With dedication, commitment and a lot of enthusiasm, they were proud to have H.R.H Princess Royal officially open their brand new purpose built boathouse and training centre in 2010.
This new location in the heart of the community now saves them crucial minutes to race to the rescue out at sea, whether it be on their rigid hull inflatable boat or Jet Bike. Help would otherwise take longer coming from farther afield from Bridlington or Withernsea.
